Become a Childbirth Educator!

The time has come where you have decided to teach Childbirth Classes for expectant parents, but you aren’t sure where to begin. Perhaps you need guidance and support in writing a great curriculum and creating the foundation for the classes. Maybe you are needing help in feeling confident in how to execute good research and gather evidence based information. Perhaps you are seeking to better understand how cultural factors, individual differences, and learning styles play a role in how a person learns and retains information. You may also be curious as to how to market your classes and get your birth business off the ground! By attending one of my CAPPA Childbirth Educator Trainings, you will be on your way to becoming a CAPPA Certified Childbirth Educator, and will find where you once had questions, you will now have confidence! Additionally, you will be offered tools and tips on how to teach in an engaging and interactive way.

Gone are the days of boring lectures; you will now know how to use balloons, rubber bands, play-doh, BINGO, Heads Up, and many more games and tangibles to help convey concepts.

At the end of this training, you will be able to tailor your classes to teaching in a hospital, privately, for homebirths or birth center births.

Using my experience of having taught over 400 families, almost 100 educators, and as a mentor to over 2,000 new moms, I will be sharing with you what works and what doesn’t! I’ll bring the skills you need to teach at hospitals, birth centers, in groups, or privately. Drawing on my past as a biology researcher, I will give you the tools and confidence to read scientifically published articles, the critical thinking skills needed to decipher what is being stated, and the understanding of how to share this information in your classes. You’ll also learn the ethics of being a great educator and how to keep in mind a variety of individuals’ needs, allowing each one feel relaxed and attended to in your class. Never taught a class or engaged in public speaking? No Problem! Part of the training is practicing in a safe place where you can get out your butterflies and iron out your kinks with a whole group of supportive peers looking to do the same. You will get practice coming up with and writing your own curriculum, and an opportunity to present a topic with some of the brand new tools and activities you had just learned. I keep my trainings small, no larger than 12, so that you are benefitting from individual attention and support; you are more than just a number! I want you to feel as though your questions are answered and that I really know who you are. You can’t get that kind of support from a large training of 30 people or more! After you complete the training, you will be invited to join a private Facebook Group where I am the facilitating mentor. This is where you can ask unlimited questions, get support, and cheer for others as you make your way through the certification process and beyond! My mentoring you never ends!
